Genoa coach Rolando Maran discussed next season’s title race between Inter and Juventus, as well as the importance of former Nerazzurri forward Goran Pandev, in an interview in yesterday’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

“The market is still open, but I would say Inter are closer to Juventus. For Inter and AC Milan the key is to have stayed consistent with regards to who their coach is.”

He also highlighted how the 37-year-old Pandev, who won the Treble with the Nerazzurri, plays an important role in the Rossoblu changing room.

“History speaks for him. He can also be a driving element in the locker room.”

Inter have worked hard in this off-season to strengthen the squad according to coach Antonio Conte wishes, in order to better close the gap with Juventus and win next season’s league title.

Conte’s squad finished one point behind a sluggish Bianconeri last season and finished as runners up in the Europa League, showing the small margins that need to be improved in order to help the Nerazzurri return to the table as one of the top clubs in Europe.

The Nerazzurri’s first game of the season is against Fiorentina in Milan on the 26th September.
