Barcelona have not abandoned their pursuit to sign Inter striker Lautaro Martinez according to a report from the online edition of Spanish news outlet Sport.

Barcelona are currently focused on offloading players and depending on how they fare in doing so they may be able to make another attempt to bring the 23-year-old striker to the club.

The report explains that Lautaro, who is contracted to Inter until 2023, is intent on not signing a contract extension with Inter due to wanting to play alongside compatriot Lionel Messi at Barcelona.

Inter are understood to be aware of the player’s intentions and could end up giving in and letting him go to avoid the risk of him leaving the club for nothing in a few years time.

Last season the highly rated Argentine national team player made 49 appearances across all competitions in which he scored a career high 21 goals and provided seven assists for his teammates.
