Roma are in advanced negotiations with Hellas Verona to sign Marash Kumbulla according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia journalist and transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Italian capital city club have leapt into pole position to sign the highly rated Italian born Albanian national team central defender who had his first team breakthrough at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi.

Having had another offer for Chris Smalling rejected by Manchester United, Roma have directed their attention toward bringing in Kumbulla, who has been courted by fellow Serie A clubs Inter and Lazio in the past few weeks and months.

Di Marzio goes on to explain that negotiations between Hellas Verona and Roma for Kumbulla are being done on the basis of a loan with obligation to buy set at €30 million.

During the recently concluded 2019/20 season, 20-year-old Kumbulla made 26 appearances across all competitions, in which he scored a single goal.
