Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has revealed that he almost joined Inter during the most recent January transfer window.

Near the end of the transfer window Inter showed a keen interest in bringing Giroud to the club in order to bolster their attacking options but were unable to get a deal done for Giroud, whose contract with Chelsea was then extended until the end of the upcoming season.

“I almost signed for Lazio and Inter. I was so determined to leave that I almost even signed for Tottenham. I had to go at all costs because I was subjected to the subjective choices of the coach but then things turned out differently,” the experienced French national team player explained to French news outlet So Foot.

Giroud, who scored 10 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions last season, has again been linked with Inter during this transfer window and he has also been linked with a potential switch to Inter’s arch rivals Juventus.

Recent reports have however suggested that Giroud is not Inter’s primary target to reinforce the attack with reports stating that Napoli’s Fernando Llorente is in fact Inter’s top target for the attack at the moment.
