Former Inter manager Marcello Lippi has shared his belief that Inter and Atalanta can both challenge Juventus for the Serie A title this season.

Juventus won their ninth straight Serie A title last term but only just beat second placed Inter to the Scudetto by a single point in the end and had five more points than Atalanta, who achieved a third placed finish.

A number of pundits have tipped Inter to give winning the title a right good go this coming season and Lippi shares that belief and has also thrown Atalanta, who have been consisently good and improving in recent season, into the hat.

“In my opinion Juventus are favourites, even if I think that Antonio Conte’s Inter and Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta are on a par in terms of their play and quality of their players in addition to the skill of the coaches,” he explained in an interview with Italian newspaper Il Messaggero, which appeared in yesterday’s print edition.

Former Italian national team boss Lippi managed Inter in the 1999/2000 season and also had spells in charge of Atalanta between 1992-1993 and also had two spells at Juventus which totalled eight years.
