Talks Concerning Diego Godin’s Move To Cagliari From Inter At A Stalemate Italian Media Report

Negotiations for Diego Godin to transfer to Cagliari from Inter are currently at a stalemate according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The main issue is that Godin does not want to lose out financially yet Cagliari, who really want him, cannot pay him the €5.5 million a year that he earns each year from his contract with Inter, which still has just under two years left to run on it.

Various reports in the media have stated that Godin will be allowed to leave Inter for nothing and will be given a severance pay.

Godin joined Inter in the Summer of 2019 on a free transfer after his contract with Atletico Madrid expired. The 34-year-old made 36 appearances across all competitions in his first – and potentially only – season for Inter and in his time on the park he scored two goals and provided a single assist for his teammates.
