Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini discussed the Nerazzurri’s 7-0 friendly win over Pisa in an interview after the game in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, with statements reported by Italian media outlet FcInter1908.

“We must be happy with the performance, we got to play some minutes ahead of the match against Fiorentina. The friendly matches are important, we are happy but now the real matches start.”

The Italian midfielder highlighted that the low number of friendlies and the short pre-season may not be too much of a negative.

“It can be a good thing, we can take some fitness with us and we can take advantage of it. Different without many fans, we were very pleased to have them here.”

Finally, Gagliardini looked ahead to Inter’s season opener against Fiorentina next weekend.

“It will be a tough game against Fiorentina, they have made important signings, they will want revenge on last season, a tough game will await us.”

The 26-year-old Gagliardini, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, struggled to impress coach Antonio Conte last season, failing to particularly adapt to his tactical style.

The player made 32 appearances across all competitions last season for the Milanese club, for a total of 2341 minutes. In that time, he scored four goals and provided three assists.

Inter are working on signing Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal ahead of the closure of the transfer window, with the deal expected to reach completion over the next few days.

The Chilean midfielder has been one of Conte’s top transfer targets since his arrival in the Lombardy capital last year.
