Inter Primavera coach Armando Madonna discussed the squad’s 3-0 win over Sampdoria Primavera’s squad when speaking to gathered reporters at a press conference earlier today. His words were noted by FcInterNews.

First, Madonna touched on how he changed the team’s formation to a 4-3-1-2 to accommodate 18-year-old Italian talent Sebastiano Esposito, who was promoted to the first team by coach Antonio Conte last season.

“I made the decision when I knew that Esposito was coming, but I did not want to give up the other forwards and in order not to lose too much balance I decided to play with one defender less.”

He then spoke about Esposito’s performance and what advice he could look to give to the Italian teenager.

“Surely he doesn’t need my advice, he will already have many people giving it to him and I prefer not to get into this subject.

“As for the performance, he took the field with the desire to play the game, he needed it and he did it with will.

“It is not up to me to tell you his qualities, he is a very good player. He came with the desire that is the smartest thing a player like him can do right now.”

The 18-year-old Esposito, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2022, made 15 appearances across all competitions last season for the club under coach Antonio Conte, for a total of 301 minutes.

He scored his first professional goal after being gifted a penalty by friend and teammate Romelu Lukaku against Genoa in December.

Esposito is likely to be sent out on loan next season in order to develop and gain more regular playing time.
