Transfer market expert Luca Marchetti discussed the situation surrounding Inter midfielder Radja Nainggolan in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Radio Deejay on the show Deejay Football Club earlier today.

“In the friendly match with Carrarese, Nainggolan was tried in all the roles. Unlike last year, he is part of the Inter project, this year they are not going to give him up.”

Marchetti touched on the decision to loan out the Belgian to Cagliari last season and how it’s likely that the 32-year-old will remain with the Nerazzurri

“Last year was a starting year and Conte did not want any kind of problems. I can’t guarantee he will stay 100%, but we are certainly counting on it.”

Nainggolan, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2022, made 29 appearances across all competitions last season for Cagliari, for a total of 2279 minutes.

In that time, the player scored six goals and provided seven assists, impressing and seemingly regaining his form, showing signs of the player that shone in the capital with Roma in prior years.

Neither Conte nor Nainggolan are against working with each other, and Inter may keep the player due to a lack of concrete offers.

Nainggolan could fit the 51-year-old Italian coach’s tactical system and be a part of the squad that’s looking to fight Juventus for the league title.
