A report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Corriere della Sera has suggested that Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal will sign for Inter over the next few days, with the departure of Diego Godin facilitating the deal.

The report details how the 34-year-old Uruguayan defender’s move to Cagliari will save the Milanese club around €5.5 million per season net, due to the former Atletico Madrid man’s high wages.

The move means that the Nerazzurri can now use those funds almost entirely to fund Vidal’s contract, the report continues, who will earn over €7 million a year.

Inter benefit from the tax breaks given by the growth decree, allowing them to complete the deal for the 33-year-old Chilean midfielder.

Vidal made 43 appearances across all competitions last season for Barcelona, for a total of 2245 minutes. In that time, he scored eight goals and provided three assists, struggling to impress former Blaugrana coach Ernesto Valverde.
