Inter legend Alessandro Altobelli discussed the top strikers in Serie A and who will be this season’s capocannoniere in an interview in yesterday’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I’m unsure and I’d say Ciro Immobile, like last season. But the competition is of the highest level.”

Altobelli then touched on which players will keep up with Immobile in the fight for the top scorer award.

“Just behind that I’d put Lukaku, Cristiano Ronaldo, Belotti and Dzeko.”

Finally, Altobelli touched on the qualities of the 27-year-old Romelu Lukaku, who was one of the stars of last season in his debut campaign in Italy.

“Lukaku is extraordinary and physically overpowering, and then he has a crazy desire not only to score, but also to help his teammates score too.”

Lukaku, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2024, made 51 appearances across all competitions last season under coach Antonio Conte, for a total of 4189 minutes.

In that time, the former Everton and Manchester United striker scored 34 goals and provided six assists, contributing to a goal every 105 minutes.

Lukaku formed a formidable partnership with Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez, giving the Nerazzurri one of the most dangerous attacks in the league under the 51-year-old Italian coach, who has been a fan of the 27-year-old for some time now.
