Italian journalist Marco Barzaghi analyzed the arrival of Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal at Inter for Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia.
“Tomorrow he’ll undergo the usual medicals, followed by the signature and the official announcement. It is undoubtedly a great signing for the Nerazzurri and for Antonio Conte who knows him well, an arrival followed and built up to for a long time.
“With the arrivals of Aleksandar Kolarov, Alexis Sanchez and Arturo Vidal, Inter have spent substantially nothing to strengthen the squad available to Conte which is in line with the club’s policy for this transfer market.”
The 33-year-old Vidal cost the Nerazzurri around €1 million plus add-ons in a small compensation fee to Barcelona, who did not include the player in their future plans.
The former Juventus and Bayern Munich midfielder will undergo his medicals tomorrow before signing a two-year contract worth around €6 million net per season plus add-ons, as well as an option for a third year.
Coach Antonio Conte has wanted the player since his arrival in Milan a year ago, knowing that he fits the tactical system extremely well.
Inter’s work in this transfer market has been to help close the gap with Juventus, with the club finishing a bitter one point behind their rivals last season.
The Nerazzurri’s season opener is against Fiorentina next weekend in Milan. The Viola won their first game of the season against Torino yesterday.
