A report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport has suggested that Barcelona have still not given up on signing Inter striker Lautaro Martinez.

The report details how the Blaugrana are pushing hard to sign the 23-year-old Argentine forward, partly to please star Lionel Messi, who remained with the club despite an attempt to force a move away earlier this month.

Club president Josep Maria Bartomeu suggested yesterday that the club wouldn’t be able to make investments without first selling unneeded players.

Barcelona wouldn’t be able to pay for Lautaro outright, the report continues, and so could insert players into the deal like Luis Suarez, whose move to Juventus seems to have collapsed after the Bianconeri set their focus on Edin Dzeko instead.

It would be a complicated deal for Barcelona considering their financial situation, especially if they fail to sell Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembélé.

Inter would rather keep Lautaro and after the closure of the transfer window will work to renew his contract, increasing his salary from €2.3 million.
