Eusebio Di Francesco has revealed that Diego Godin is close to joining Cagliari and that the club hope to be able to add Radja Nainggolan to their ranks too.

Cagliari have been in negotiations to bring Uruguayan national team defender Godin to the club from Inter for about a week now and are closing in on completing his signing.

As for Nainggolan, the Belgian spent last season out on loan at the Rossoblu club, who have far from hidden their desire to bring him back again.

Nainggolan is currently back at Inter after the expiration of his loan spell and it remains to be seen what will happen with his future. Some reports have stated he could be sold but others have stated he could play a part at Inter.

“The club told me that Godin is close. We also hope to bring Nainggolan in, to help these younger players to mature with the aid of his experience,” the Cagliari boss explained to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia following their 1-1 draw against Sassuolo yesterday in their first game of the Serie A season.
