Diego Godin has taken to photo sharing social media platform Instagram to bid farewell to Inter with a move to Cagliari on the verge of completion.
Godin joined Inter in the Summer of 2019 on a free transfer after his contract with Atletico Madrid expired and he will be leaving Inter for Cagliari just over a year after joining.
The veteran Uruguayan nataionl team central defender initially struggled to adapt at Inter as he struggled to get to grip with the three at the back system used but became a mainstay in the team at the end of the season.
All in all the 34-year-old made 36 appearances across all competitions for the club, in which he scored two goals, including one in the Europa League final, and provided a single assist for his teammates.
Godin’s move to Cagliari is widely expected to be formally completed at some point later on today.
He posted: “Thank you very much to the entire Nerazzurri family for the affection and respect received during this year.
“It has been an intense and atypical season for the situation we have experienced in the world but despite that I think we have done a good job and we have brought the team back to the top, fighting for important goals as it deserves.
“I carry the memory of all of you fans, who are truly the ones who make this club great. And of course with my teammates and all the people who work alongside the team day after day and who have always treated me with a smile! A hug and I wish you the best.”
