Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman refused to exclude the possibility of the club signing Inter striker Lautaro Martinez when speaking to gathered reporters in a press conference earlier today. His words were noted by Italian media outlet FcInter1908.

The Dutch coach was asked about the possible arrival of either Lautaro Martinez or Lyon forward Memphis Depay.

“Nothing is to be excluded, but as I said I focus on the players who are here. Barcelona must always be ready to strengthen themselves.”

The Blaugrana have been following the 23-year-old Argentine striker for some time now, hoping to sign him to replace the aging Luis Suarez, who left for Atletico Madrid earlier this week.

Lautaro, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, had a €111 million release clause valid in the first week of July, which the Catalan side failed to pay.

Since then, talks have been slow, with the Milanese club not keen to lose on the Argentine forward, who has formed a strong partnership with Romelu Lukaku.

Lautaro made 49 appearances across all competitions last season for the Milanese club, for a total of 3595 minutes. In that time, he scored 21 goals and provided seven assists.
