Inter midfielder Stefano Sensi discussed his idol, his dreams with the Nerazzurri, the reason why he wears the number 12 shirt and more in an interview for the Milanese club’s Matchday Programme for the game against Fiorentina this evening.

First, he explained why he wears the number 12 shirt.

“Yes, I’m a midfielder and I wear the number 12 shirt. The reason is very simple. I began my career as a goalkeeper.”

The 25-year-old Italian then touched on his idol, former Barcelona and Spain midfielder Xavi.

“I have always loved him. If I ever met him, I would tell him that he has always been my idol and that his plays have enlightened me. I have watched all of his games.”

He revealed that he would rather register an assist than a goal.

“If I had to choose between the two, I have no doubts. Doing the perfect pass is the greatest joy I can have.”

Sensi discussed his first team as captain of a squad.

“I was 18 years old, in San Marino. It was a great emotion, in the stands my whole family was cheering for me.”

The former Sassuolo midfielder discussed his interests off the pitch.

“Off the pitch I have a great talent for cooking. I am very good, I make exceptional desserts. Too bad I can’t eat many of them!”

Finally, Sensi spoke about his top five Nerazzurri legends.

“I have no doubts about my top five Inter legends. In goal Julio Cesar, then I would put Zanetti, Sneijder, Ronaldo and Milito.”

The 25-year-old Sensi signed permanently for the Nerazzurri from Sassuolo this summer, signing a four-year deal with the Milanese club.

Sensi impressed dramatically at the start of last season, scoring three goals and providing four assists in the first six games of the season.

Unfortunately for the Italian midfielder, he suffered a tear in his abductor muscle in the Derby d’Italia against Juventus, which affected the player for the rest of the season.

In total Sensi managed to make 19 appearances across all competitions last season, but failed to register a goal involvement after the first six games.
