Danilo D’Ambrosio: “This Is An Inter Team That Never Gives Up & Does Everything To Win”

Inter defender Danilo D’Ambrosio discussed the Nerazzurri’s tough 4-3 win over Fiorentina at the San Siro this evening in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV after the game.

“This is an Inter team that never gives up, that takes to the pitch to win and does everything to do so. Today we started on an uphill battle but we were good at straightening it out.

“We conceded from a counter attack but we were focused on putting things back on the right track. Then the substitutions were fundamental.”

The 32-year-old Italian commented on what aspects the team still needs to do to improve on.

“We always want to play in the opponent’s half and we have to be more careful from counterattacks.”

The Nerazzurri defender touched on what the team have this season compared to last season.

“We have more options off the bench because we have strong players and we are more competitive. As I said a short time ago, last year we came second, one point behind first place.

“We dropped out of the Coppa Italia and lost the Europa League final, this year’s goal is to improve on these things.”

Finally, D’Ambrosio discussed how the goals he scores for the Nerazzurri always seem to be important ones. The 32-year-old Italian scored the match winner for the Milanese club in the 89th minute earlier this evening.

“I try to put the coach in trouble during training. When I take to the pitch, I try to give 100% and I don’t like to lose. I always try to win and in cases like this I try to score a goal.”

D’Ambrosio, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until the end of this season, played the full 90 minutes for coach Antonio Conte’s squad earlier this evening, scoring the vital winner in the dying minutes of the game after heading home a cross from Alexis Sanchez.

The player made 32 appearances across all competitions last season, where he scored five goals.
