Italian journalist and transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio discussed Inter’s attempts to sell Uruguayan midfielder Matias Vecino to Napoli when speaking with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia earlier today.

“Napoli wants him but only under certain conditions, a loan with a buy option, without obligations. We will see if Inter will lower their demands a bit considering that the player is injured.”

The Nerazzurri are keen to offload the 29-year-old Uruguayan midfielder, who is contracted to the club until 2022. The Milanese side were close to selling Vecino in January, with Tottenham reportedly interested, but a deal never materialised.

Vecino is not on coach Antonio Conte’s future project at the club and so is one of the unneeded players still hanging around in the squad.

The 29-year-old made 25 appearances across all competitions last season for the Nerazzurri, for a total of 1698 minutes. In that time, he scored three goals and provided one assist, struggling to particularly impress the 51-year-old Italian coach.

Vecino did not appear in the Milanese club’s season opener against Fiorentina yesterday and is unlikely to feature against Benevento on Wednesday.
