Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin analysed Inter’s nail biting 4-3 comeback win over Fiorentina yesterday in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset earlier today.
“The first game is good, more or less. Good because of the three points, not good because the defensive phase that didn’t work.
“Conceding three goals at the start is not like Antonio Conte, who decided to change his defense, he stayed with a three-man defense, that is his tactical belief, but he changed the players, and we did not like that much.”
He highlighted how Conte’s defensive options struggled to impress against the Viola.
“They all struggled back there, there wasn’t a lot of protection. Maybe it’s time to review some of the decisions taken for this, the first game.”
The Italian journalist also touched on some positives from the game, as well as an overall summary.
“There are also some positive signs, the idea that there are always five subs and that bench there gives us hope. So, bad defensive phase, very bad, and Antonio Conte will have to think about it, but good job to the Inter team.”
The Nerazzurri started the game off on a negative note, conceding in only the third minute. A gritty first half followed, that saw Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez find an equaliser just before half time.
In the second half, coach Antonio Conte’s substitutions and tactical changes helped to regain control of the match and eventually walk away winner, thanks to a late goal from Italian defender Danilo D’Ambrosio.
Inter’s next game is against newly promoted Benevento on Wednesday, before facing Lazio next weekend.
The Milanese club will continue their work in the transfer market before the closure of the window on October 5th, with unneeded players like Matias Vecino still present at the club.
