Tottenham have offered Inter a loan deal with a €40 million obligation to buy attached for Slovakian defender Milan Skriniar, according to a report from Italian journalist Niccolò Ceccarini on Twitter earlier today.
The 25-year-old Nerazzurri defender, who is contracted to the club until 2023, failed to appear in the club’s season opener against Fiorentina yesterday, a thrilling 4-3 comeback.
The Milanese club are open to selling the former Sampdoria defender because the player struggled to adapt to coach Antonio Conte’s tactical system, disappointing playing in a back three.
Selling the defender would allow the club to focus on signing other transfer targets, like Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, Conte’s top choice.
Skriniar made 42 appearances across all competitions last season for Inter, for a total of 3399 minutes. In that time, he provided two assists and helped the side keep 12 clean sheets.
Tottenham have been following Skriniar for some time now, with coach Jose Mourinho a fan of the defender.
Ceccarini described the situation on Twitter, saying: “Skriniar, the offer from Spurs is a loan with obligation to buy for €40 million.”
