Negotiations between Inter and Napoli over central midfielder Matias Vecino are at a stand-by according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia journalist and transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

Napoli have shown an interest in signing the Uruguayan national team player as of late but the negotiations between the clubs are now at a standstill although Di Marzio has not explained why this is.

Vecino, who joined Inter back in 2017 from fellow Serie A club Fiorentina, is currently sidelined due to an injury that he is in the process of recovering from but his injury status does not seem to have stopped Napoli from being interested in him.

“I can say that Napoli want Matias Vecino from Inter, but there is a stand-by phase,” Di Marzio explained whilst he was present in the studios of Sky Sport Italia earlier on today.

The highly regarded journalist also commented on the future of Napoli central defender Nikola Maksimovic, who has been linked with a possible move to Inter by Alfredo Pedulla.

“Watch out for Maksimovic’s possible departure because he doesn’t play,” he added.
