Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti analysed Inter’s 4-3 comeback win over Fiorentina in an editorial in yesterday’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Corriere della Sera.

“Unlike the first Juve game, Inter won a game where you simply have to take the result.

“Technically it was an insistent and confused Inter, they drew at the end of the first half and won at the end, a sign that they did not underestimate anything.”

“The difference was made by the 5 substitutions and their quality. When Ribery came off in the 82nd minute, Fiorentina was winning, five minutes later they had lost.

“For Inter, Vidal, Nainggolan and Sensi were in, in Fiorentina some guys, one of whom, Vlahovic, had wasted a fourth goal seven meters away from Handanovic because the shot was poor.

“This was the real difference, an embarrassing Inter in defense, covered by two left-footed players, Bastoni and Kolarov, who always left room next to Ribery, Kouame and Castrovilli.”

The Italian journalist commented on some of the surprise takeaways from the game.

“There are two surprises, the new quality of Fiorentina and the huge system that Inter can put on the pitch, so big that in the end they can cover any uncertainty of the game.

“It was often seen, especially in the first half, the difficulty of having so many forwards on the field, Eriksen, Lautaro, Lukaku, Perisic. This allowed Fiorentina to dribble, they have a good team, although not yet a fully competent squad.

“In the end a fairly normal result taken only for the result. And an Inter to be found.”

The Nerazzurri, under the guidance of coach Antonio Conte, managed to secure the vital three points with a game winning goal coming from Italian defender Danilo D’Ambrosio in the dying minutes of the game.

The Milanese club’s next game is against newly promoted side Benevento on Wednesday, before facing Lazio next weekend in the toughest test of the new season so far.

Inter’s new arrivals like Arturo Vidal and Achraf Hakimi both started on the bench in Saturday’s win, being brought on as substitutes in the second half to great effect.
