Inter could welcome two defenders in the event Milan Skriniar leaves the club but they will sign at least one regardless of whether the Slovakian international stays at Inter or departs, according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Skriniar is currently subject to strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur and if he leaves the club Inter will find themselves especially short on true central defenders with many of Inter’s players capable of playing at centre back not naturally being centre backs.

The report from the Milan based news outlet goes on to state that Matteo Darmian, who is primarily a wing-back but is capable of playing at centre back, will join Inter from Parma.

If Skriniar leaves Inter will look to bring in a true centre back, possibly Manchester United’s Chris Smalling, who impressed last year whilst out on loan at Inter’s fellow Serie A side Roma.
