Andrea Ranocchia To Stay At Inter Despite Genoa Interest According To Italian Media Reports

Andrea Ranocchia will stay at Inter this season despite strong interest from Genoa, according to Wednesday’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

The 32-year-old seemed certain to join the Rossoblu last week after making just seven appearances in Serie A last season.

But Inter have put the deal on hold and now appear likely to keep their former captain as an understudy to Stefan de Vrij in the centre of Antonio Conte’s three-man defence.

The Nerazzurri have reportedly had second thoughts after Alessandro Bastoni did not give them the assurances they had hoped for while playing in the centre of the back three against Fiorentina on Saturday.

Matteo Darmian will join the club regardless and is expected to arrive from Parma either tomorrow or on Friday.

The former Manchester United defender made 36 appearances for the Gialloblu last season as Roberto D’Aversa’s men secured an 11th-place finish, scoring once in a 2-1 win at Brescia.
