Antonio Conte’s Ex-Assistant Angelo Alessio: “Inter Have One Of The Best Teams In The Serie A”

Inter manager Antonio Conte’s former assistant manager Angelo Alessio has shared his belief that there is a new found understanding between Conte and Inter after all that went down last season.

In his first season in charge Conte took Inter agonisingly close to silverware with them missing out on the Serie A title by a single point, finishing as runners up in the Europa League and reaching the semi finals of th Coppa Italia.

However there was no shortage of controversy throughout the course of the season with Conte hitting out at club management on several occasions in public and this led to Conte meeting with club management following the Europa League final to discuss his future.

“Last year everything happened, I think now there is a new understanding between him and the club. Inter have an important team, among the best in Serie A.

“With Martinez and Vidal, there is now a central player missing,” he explained in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Sportiva yesterday afternoon.

He then added: “After having conceded three goals in one match, they must do something defensively. The five subs help the strongest teams a lot and against Fiorentina Conte’s last three changes were crucial. Perisic? He has to get used to the role.”

Alessio, who last worked for Scottish Premiership club Kilmarnock, then went on to share his views on Inter attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen, who has had a difficult time acclimatising since his arrival at Inter back in the January transfer window.

“It is difficult to think of an attacking midfielder who does well in a team where there are two forwards. In the Premier League he proved his worth but in Italy he still has not.”
