Diego Godin: “Brought Out The Best Of Myself At Inter, I Hope Radja Nainggolan Joins Cagliari”

New Cagliari signing Diego Godin has shared his belief that he cannot blame himself for anything that happened during his shorter than expected spell at Inter, that lasted just a single season.

Godin joined Inter on a free transfer in the Summer of 2019 on a three year contract after his contract with Atletico Madrid expired at the end of the previous season.

In his single season with the Nerazzurri club, Godin made a total of 36 appearances across all competitions, in which he scored two goals – including one in the Europa League final – and provided a single assist for his teammates.

“My time at Inter? I don’t think I can blame myself for anything. I brought out the best in myself. After all, we also reached the Europa League final,” he explained to the gathered media at his official presentation as a Cagliari player on Wednesday evening.

The veteran Uruguayan national team central defender was then asked about the ongoing media speculation linking Inter central midfielder Radja Nainggolan with a potential return to Cagliari, where he spent last season on loan.

“Everyone wants Radja in the team. I want him too. I hope he can arrive. Everyone spoke well of Cagliari, Sardinians love Uruguayans, it’s a place where I can feel respected.”
