Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has insisted that it is up to Lautaro Martinez to become the next Cristiano Ronaldo when asked if the Inter striker is the next Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo has been at the top of football for over a decade now and has won several world player of the year awards and despite now being 35-years-old he is showing no signs of slowing down with him still an absolutely world class talent.

Lautaro is meanwhile at the opposite end of his career and is just a few years into his career yet has taken great strides already and is widely regarded as one of the best young strikers around at the moment.

The highly rated 23-year-old Argentine national team player has scored two goals in as many games this season for Inter across all competitions.

“I have met many talents in my career, but Cristiano is truly a champion, he is one level above the others. He has an obsessive attention to all details, from food to training,” Marotta explained to the gathered media at the Sheraton Hotel in Milan, a short time ago.

“Is Lautaro Martinez the new Ronaldo? It depends on him. He has talent, he’s young and has his whole career ahead of him.”

Marotta also shared his thoughts on the career of former Inter striker Antonio Cassano: “He was on the verge of becoming a great champion, unfortunately he never managed to blossom.”
