Italian media have sang the praises of Inter central midfielder Arturo Vidal following his first start for Inter in yesterday evening’s 5-2 victory away to Benevento.

The experienced Chilean national team player recently completed his long awaited move to Inter from Barcelona and after making a positive impact off of the bench in Saturday’s 4-3 win over Fiorentina, he was rewarded with a start against Benevento.

The tough tackling central midfielder played just over an hour of the match at Gli Stregoni’s Stadio Ciro Vigorito before having to limp off the park due to an injury to his thigh, which is reportedly nothing more than a knock.

In their player ratings published in today’s print edition, Gazzetta dello Sport gave Vidal a 7/10 rating and stated: “Are you sure it was his debut from the first minute? He seems to have been at the Nerazzurri for a lifetime, inctercepting the ball and drawing lines that are almost never banal.”

Turin based newspaper Tuttosport also gave him a rating of 7/10: “Strong in his tackling at the service of the team. You see that he has the desire and he demonstrates this: wins balls and starts counter attacks. The only drawback is an easy goal he missed.”

Corriere dello Sport meanwhile gave him a rating of 6.5 and had this to say about his performance: “He is not brilliant yet, but he is thereabouts. Played the ball well.”
