Inter full back Dalbert discussed his loan move to Ligue 1 side Rennes after officially signing for the French club earlier this evening. His words were noted in an official announcement by Rennes.

“I’m happy to have had this opportunity to join Stade Rennes. I hope to have a good season with my new teammates.

“With Raphinha being here, I followed the club’s matches, it works well. I spoke with him before coming, he told me a lot of good things about the city and the club.

“I am very happy to be here. Ligue 1 is a league that I appreciate. It makes me happy to be here. I am very motivated and ready to give my maximum in the league and the Champions League.”

The 27-year-old Brazilian full back, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, joined the French club on a season-long loan deal with a buy option attached, with the fee being unreported.

The player was not included in coach Antonio Conte’s tactical system and failed to appear in the first two games of the season, with Croatian forward Ivan Perisic and Englishman Ashley Young both being preferred in his role.

Dalbert spent last season on loan with Fiorentina, where he made 34 appearances across all competitions, for a total of 2751 minutes. In that time, he provided nine assists.

Rennes have been strengthening their squad in this transfer window, ahead of their Champions League campaign. The club also signed Italian defender Daniele Rugani on loan from Juventus.
