Former Inter midfielder Alessandro Scanziani has shared his belief that Inter’s first team squad are all at an excellent level following their perfect start to the new campaign.
Inter started the 2020/21 Serie A season with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Fiorentina last weekend and followed that up with a 5-2 win away to newly promoted Benevento at the Stadio Ciro Vigorito on Wednesday evening.
The Nerazzurri club made a number of changes to the side for the match against Benevento compared to the side that started against Fiorentina and Scanziani has discussed how it remains to be seen how the players take the regular changes to the team.
“Inter played two very good matches, they changed 5-6 players against Benevento but the 20-22 players in the team are all at an excellent level,” he explained in an interview with Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.
“Now it is necessary to see how the changes are accepted by the players themselves, that is, if they take it well or instead as a punishment, as it happened to think of me but now it must be said that football is different.”
He was then asked about who he believes is the favourite to go on and win the Serie A title this season: “Juventus remains the favourite, even if they have changed a lot starting with the coaching staff.”
Scanziani then went on to speak about Antonio Candreva, who recently departed Inter for Sampdoria following a four year spell with the Nerazzurri: “He played different competitions at Inter, now it’s different but I think he can have a couple of high-level seasons still.”
