Italian football journalist Matteo Marani has shared his belief that Inter will be more focused on trying to win Serie A this season than they will the Champions League.

Inter were drawn into group B in the Champions League on Thursday and will come up against 13 time champions Real Madrid, Ukrainian powerhouses Shakhtar Donetsk and one time Champions League runners-up Borussia Monchengladbach.

Inter have made the perfect start to the 2020/21 Serie A campaign and are sitting joint top of the table at the moment after the first two match days.

Having come agonisingly close last season and having now bolstered their ranks with the likes of Arturo Vidal and Achraf Hakimi, there is a real feeling amongst the media that Inter can give winning the Serie A title a right good go this term.

“I think Inter will focus more on the league than on the Champions League,” Marani explained in an interview whilst present in the studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia on Friday morning.

“They will naturally do everything to move forward in Europe but the Nerazzurri’s goal is to break a fast in the league that has lasted for ten years now, thus trying to undermine Juventus.

“On a tactical level, Conte’s team will take some more risks than last year, in which the defensive aspect was favoured.

“However, it is too early to make proclamations on favourites for the Scudetto and highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of the contenders, but Inter are a level team that can interrupt this period without trophies.”
