Cagliari coach Eusebio Di Francesco discussed the Rossoblu’s interest in signing Inter midfielder Radja Nainggolan when speaking to gathered reporters at a press conference yesterday. His words were noted by Italian media outlet FcInterNews.

“You all know that there is an interest on our part, but we have talked about him too much. I’m not going back on my statements about the fact that some players are still missing, something is still missing and the club wants to satisfy me.”

The former Roma and Sassuolo coach also confirmed that former Inter defender Diego Godin, who joined the Sardinian club last week, will feature against Atalanta.

“Tomorrow will be the match he starts.”

The 32-year-old Nainggolan, who is contracted to Inter until 2022, is keen to return to Sardinia to play for the Rossoblu, although he is not against working with coach Antonio Conte.

The 51-year-old Italian has already deployed Nainggolan once this season, bringing him on as a substitute against Fiorentina in the opening game of the season, where he impressed in his 15 minutes on the pitch.

Nainggolan was an important player for Cagliari last season, where he was on loan, and he quickly earnt the captain’s armband.

The former Roma man made 29 appearances across all competitions, for a total of 2279 minutes. In that time, he scored six goals and provided seven assists.
