Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni discussed the Nerazzurri’s league clash against Lazio in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV before the game.
“Lazio are a great team but we are aware of our abilities, we will go on the pitch to get the three points.
“It was a strange match between Lazio and Atalanta, Inzaghi’s team could have scored several goals from the occasions created but failed to.”
He highlighted how the Milanese club are not underestimating the Roman side.
“Certainly, they should not be underestimated, especially after a defeat like the one against Gasperini’s team, they will certainly want revenge.”
“In any case, we know their potential, we have prepared for the match in the best possible way, aware of their characteristics. We will go on the field knowing what we have to do to put them in trouble.”
Finally, the 21-year-old Italian defender commented on Lazio striker Ciro Immobile, who was last season’s top scorer.
“He is a great champion, a player to be feared without doubt, but we will give our best to be able to contain his work and the work of the Biancocelesti.”
The Biancocelesti started the season strongly with a 2-0 win over Cagliari, but suffered against Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta, losing 4-1. The Roman side will be looking to bounce back with a strong win against the Nerazzurri this afternoon.
The Milanese club have had a stronger start, winning their first game against Fiorentina 4-3 before beating newly promoted side Benevento 5-2.
Bastoni, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, was often deployed by coach Antonio Conte in place of Diego Godin last season. The 21-year-old made 33 appearances across all competitions last season, for a total of 2560 minutes.
