Italian journalist Niccolò Ceccarini discussed Inter’s work in the outgoing transfer market in his editorial for Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb recently.
“Objective releases instead for Inter, which in these last three days of the market must define some situations. Nainggolan in the end will go to Cagliari.
“More difficult to understand what will happen with Joao Mario, Vecino and Asamoah. With Dalbert in Ligue 1 at Rennes, Inter will now try to make an attempt for Marcos Alonso.”
He also confirmed that Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund were interested in Inter midfielder Christian Eriksen, but the Nerazzurri turned down the approach due to their desire to keep the 28-year-old Dane involved in the project at the club.
“For Eriksen there was interest from Borussia Dortmund. The Dane is a top-ranked player and the Nerazzurri at the moment have no intention to deprive themselves of him.”
The Milanese club have been working hard to cut the deadweight from their squad before the closure of the transfer window. Unwanted players like Diego Godin and Dalbert have already been re-homed by the Nerazzurri.
Inter are now working to realise the futures of Joao Mario, Matias Vecino and Kwadwo Asamoah, with the Uruguayan midfielder likely to remain with the club until the January transfer window, when Napoli will attempt to sign him again.
The 28-year-old Eriksen, who signed in a deal worth €20 million from Tottenham in the January transfer window, has so far struggled to adapt to the tactical system of coach Antonio Conte, who attempted to change his trusted system in order to better accommodate the player.
