A report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport has analysed today’s duel between Inter striker Romelu Lukaku and Lazio forward Ciro Immobile.

The report details how both players have a killer instinct in front of goal, but they reach that point in different ways. Immobile needs space and an open pitch which allows him to stretch the progression.

Lukaku also likes the space, but due to his strength he is able to retain and hold up the ball in congested areas of the pitch, creating space for his teammates. The Lazio forward struggles to involve his teammates as much as the Belgian striker.

Another aspect that differs between the duo is their teammates and how they play around them. Luis Alberto and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic both work hard to make themselves available for Immobile and to provide the best delivery possible.

Whilst for Lukaku, he works well with full back Achraf Hakimi and striking partner Lautaro Martinez, and can drop deeper to collect the ball.
