Italian journalist Luca Marchetti discussed Inter’s current work in the transfer market ahead of deadline day tomorrow in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Radio Deejay on the show ‘Deejay Football Club’ earlier today.
“Inter have to close the gap with Cagliari for Radja Nainggolan, it is necessary to find an economic fix since Cagliari values the Belgian at €5 million and wants a straight swap with a Primavera player while Inter raise the price.
“In my opinion, the three parties want to close out the deal, they have to agree on the formula.”
He also highlighted the isolated position of Uruguayan midfielder Matias Vecino.
“Vecino will stay, he will not play until December and Napoli will then return for him in January.”
The 32-year-old Nainggolan, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2022, has made an appearance under coach Antonio Conte, coming on in the last 16 minutes against Fiorentina last weekend.
The player impressed last season whilst on loan with former home Cagliari, where he was quickly given the captain’s armband.
Nainggolan made 29 appearances across all competitions last season for the Rossoblu, for a total of 2279 minutes. In that time, he scored six goals and provided seven assists, helping the side to a 14th place finish.
The 29-year-old Vecino, who is also contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2022, did not impress coach Antonio Conte last season, and was close to a move to Tottenham in January before a deal collapsed.
The player made 25 appearances across all competitions last season, for a total of 1698 minutes. In that time, he scored three goals and provided one assist.
