Parma coach Fabio Liverani discussed Inter bound Matteo Darmian when speaking to gathered reporters in a press conference yesterday. His words were noted by Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.

“Matteo is an exceptional guy and he makes you understand the strength of this squad.”

He highlighted that the 30-year-old Italian full back is close to completing a move to the Nerazzurri.

“He is almost officially an Inter player, he gave a hand to us. He will not start against Hellas Verona as is normal, I think it is right to build with those who will be Parma from here on.”

The 30-year-old Darmian, who joined Parma last summer from Manchester United and signed a four-year deal with the Emilian club, is incredibly close to finalizing his move to Inter.

The two clubs reached a gentleman’s agreement regarding this deal last summer, when the Italian full back arrived in Emilia-Romagna.

Darmian made 34 appearances across all competitions last season for Parma, for a total of 2685 minutes. In that time, he scored one goal and provided one assist.

The player will be an important asset to coach Antonio Conte, as he is able to play as both a left wing back and right wing back, giving the 51-year-old coach more rotation options.
