Parma coach Fabio Liverani discussed Inter bound Matteo Darmian and his departure from the Emilian club in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia after the side’s 1-0 win over Hellas Verona.

“I wanted to thank him because even though he is an Inter player almost officially, he made the journey, he gave me his availability.

“He understood that the team needed this availability. He will leave as a great man and sportsman.”

The 30-year-old Darmian is set to sign for the Nerazzurri tomorrow, after spending only one season in Emilia-Romagna with Parma.

The Italian full back joined the Crusaders from Manchester United last summer, and Inter made a gentleman’s agreement with Parma regarding a move this summer to the Lombardy capital.

Despite the Coronavirus pandemic and its effects on football, the Nerazzurri held strong with their end of the agreement and will be officially signing the player before the closure of the transfer window tomorrow evening.

Darmian made 34 appearances across all competitions last season for Parma, for a total of 2685 minutes. In that time, he scored one goal and provided one assist.

The player is appreciated by coach Antonio Conte due to his tactical flexibility.
