Joao Mario is to complete a return to former club Sporting CP from Inter according to a report from the online edition of Portuguese daily newspaper A Bola.

Joao Mario left Sporting CP for Inter back in 2016 in a €45 million, including add-ons deal, and he will return to the José Alvalade Stadium side on a season long loan with Sporting CP to pay a third of Joao Mario’s €3 million wages he receieves at Inter.

The Portuguese national team player has only ever thought of a return to the club where his senior career began and has knocked back Serie A club Torino in favour of a return to Sporting CP.

Although the Italian transfer window has now closed, the transfer window in Portugal is still open until tomorrow.

In his four year spell with Inter, which has included loan spells at West Ham United and Lokomotiv Moscow, Joao Mario has made 69 appearances across all competitions to date for Inter. In his time on the park he has scored four goals and tallied 13 assists.
