Diego Godin has revealed that he has never regretted his decision to leave Atletico Madrid and sign for Inter in the Summer of 2019.

The experienced Uruguayan national team defender joined Inter on a free transfer after letting his contract expire with Los Colchoneros, who he made just shy of 400 appearances for in his time with them.

Godin joined Inter on a three year contract and after some initial difficulties when it came to settling in, he got his place in the team and became a regular in the team.

Godin’s Inter adventure would last just one season though with him completing a move to fellow Serie A side Cagliari during the recently concluded Summer transfer window.

“I have never regretted leaving Atletico for the Inter: it was time to change, to leave the comfort zone and face new challenges,” he explained in an interview with Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, which they shared on their online edition.

During his single season on Inter’s books 34-year-old Godin made 36 appearances across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing one assist for his teammates.
