Italian football journalist Fabrizio Biasin has shared his belief that Radja Nainggolan staying at Inter can only be a good thing if he is to accept a back-up role within the team.
Nainggolan appeared destined to leave Inter for fellow Serie A side Cagliari in the recently closed Summer transfer window and although the clubs negotiated up until virtually the last minute, a deal was ultimately unable to be agreed upon for the 32-year-old Belgian, who will now stay at Inter until at least the start of next year.
“Inter have rediscovered Nainggolan. Inter would have gladly sold him but he remained due to problems that we will define as no one wanted to give us money,” Biasin explained in his latest editorial piece for Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.
“It can only be good if the Belgian accepts the role of being an alternative to the starters, otherwise he risks turning into a problem.”
Biasin proceeded to share his thoughts on the overall make-up of the Inter squad: “As for the rest, the squad appears to be complete. For each role there are starters and valid alternatives. Yes, even in attack.”
The respected journalist then went on to discuss one doubt that he has about Inter’s squad with that doubt being under performing attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen, whose difficulties at Inter have carried on into this season.
“I have only one doubt, Eriksen. Keeping him to treat him as a back-up makes no sense, but we are (fairly) convinced that in the end the coach will be able to enhance him.”
