Former Inter defender Francesco ‘Ciccio’ Colonnese has shared his belief that it was two points lost rather than a point gained for Inter following their draw away to Lazio over the weekend.

Inter took the lead via Lautaro Martinez half an hour into the match and although they dominated for large spells of the match, they were forced to settle for just a single point at the Stadio Olimpico after Sergej Milinkovic-Savic headed Lazio level soon after the second half began.

“Inter had the game in their hands for 60 minutes after which Lazio managed to equalise in an incredible way. Given how the match went, it was two points lost rather than one gained,” he explained in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Sportiva on Monday afternoon.

Colonnese then went on to speak about Inter attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen, who was an unused substitute in the match in the Italian capital city.

“He hasn’t proved his worth yet, he plays differently and is struggling to fit in. Conte goes on with his system, he is convinced it is not right to take away certainties from the team.”

Colonnese then spoke on how Inter manager Antonio Conte has changed: “Conte paid great attention to the defensive phase when at Juventus but now he thinks more about the attack but for me the defence remains fundamental, it must be solid.”

Colonnese joined Inter in the Summer of 1997 from Napoli and he spent the next three seasons with the club before departing for Lazio.

During his three year spell with the club, the now 49-year-old made a total of 80 appearances across all competitions, in which he scored two goals and won the UEFA Cup with the club in the 1997/98 season.
