Joao Mario has already signed his contract with Sporting CP ahead of his imminent return to his former employers according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The Portuguese national team midfielder is to return to the Jose Alvalade Stadium on a season long loan basis and the final details of his transfer back to Sporting CP are to be ironed out today, the final day of the transfer window in Portugal.

The 27-year-old is set to spend his second consecutive season out on loan after spending the duration of last season out on loan at Russian Premier League side Lokomotiv Moscow.

Joao Mario joined Inter in a circa €40 million deal from Sporting CP in the Summer of 2016 as one of then new Inter owners Suning’s first signings.

Since joining the club, Joao Mario has made 69 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored four goals and provided 13 assists.
