Newly appointed Dutch national team manager Frank de Boer has revealed that he and his coaching staff will look closely at the minutes each player plays over the course of the international break.

The Netherlands are due to take on Mexico in an international friendly match before taking on Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as Italy in UEFA Nations League action.

“We will look closely at the number of minutes each player will play. I have also had contact with a number of club coaches about it,” former Inter boss de Boer admitted in a press conference earlier on today.

de Boer’s admission would suggest that Inter central defender Stefan de Vrij could see some action at some point during the international break.

de Vrij has been an almost ever present in Dutch national team squads in recent years but has found playing time extremely limited due to him being behind Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk and Juventus’ Matthijs de Ligt in the national team pecking order.

The 28-year-old, who joined Inter back in the Summer of 2018 on a free transfer, has made 84 appearances across all competitions since joining Inter, in which he has scored six goals and tallied as many assists.
