Inter central defender Alessandro Bastoni has tested positive for COVID-19 according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Bastoni is currently away with the Italian under 21 national team and was subject to testing and he returned a positive result.

This positive test however came just a day after the player tested negative for COVID-19. The highly rated young defender will be subjected to yet another test today, the result of which should be known in the early afternoon.

It now remains to be seen what kind of result the player returns and Inter will undoubtedly be paying close attention to the result considering that the Milan derby is just 10 days away.

This season the 21-year-old,who is currently under contract with Inter until the end of the 2022/23 season, has made two appearances across all competitions but he has been unable to provide any goal contributions during his time on the field.
