Inter’s owners Suning and Inter president Steven Zhang’s ambition this season is to win the first piece of silverware as club owners according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Chinese e-commerce giants bought a majority stake in Inter back in the Summer of 2016 from Indonesian tycoon Erick Thohir and have since bought the rest of his shares in the club.

Suning are keen to become the first foreign ownership to win some silverware in Italy and they hope to achieve this goal this season.

The report from the Milan based news outlet goes on to explain that Inter president Steven Zhang will soon return to China in order to hold negotiations with potential new main shirt sponsors. Evergrande or Hisense could be the companies who replace current main shirt sponsors Pirelli, who have been on the front of Inter’s shirts for over 20 years.

Gazzetta dello Sport state that this Inter team has never been so close to the wishes of Zhang. Although the COVID-19 crisis meant Inter could not have as grand a transfer window as last Summer, they still managed to bring in Achraf Hakimi.

N’Golo Kante, Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses were all courted but were not signed in the end due to not being compatible with the current financial situation of the club.
