Inter tried to set-up a swap deal with Chelsea that would have seen Christian Eriksen and N’Golo Kante exchanged in the recently closed transfer window according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

Given his struggles since his arrival in the most recent January transfer window, the Danish national team player was among the most transferable players for Inter in the Summer transfer window.

Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta tried to set-up a swap deal with Chelsea but the Premier League side were quick to reject Inter’s idea with a sharp no.

No convincing offers arrived for Eriksen during the transfer window and in the final few hours of the transfer window, the player himself refused a move away to any club due to wanting to stay at Inter.

With Eriksen having stayed at Inter it is now down to Inter manager Antonio Conte to make use of him but it will not be easy to insert him given the quality in Inter’s midfield.
