Alessandro Bastoni and Milan Skriniar may not just miss the Milan derby but also the first Champions League group stage match against Borussia Monchengladbach according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Both players have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past two days. Bastoni has tested positive in his last two tests and has to quarantine for the next 14 days. Skriniar is meanwhile in his native Slovakia and unable to return to Italy and if he tests positive when tested again he too will have to quarantine.

In the meantime, things have changed for those not on international duty. Yesterday’s group training session was cancelled and the players were all subject to testing, with results expected to arrive today. The players will only be able to train on an individual basis and will have to only go between their homes and the training ground.

The report from the Milan based news outlet goes on to explain that the defence against AC Milan and Borussia Monchengladbach will likely be Danilo D’Ambrosio, Stefan de Vrij and Aleksandar Kolarov whilst Andrea Ranocchia and Matteo Darmian will be on the bench.
