Italian football journalist Maurizio Compagnoni has shared his belief that it is a four way race for the Serie A title this season.
“My four candidates for the title are Juventus, Inter, Napoli and Atalanta. The Bianconeri have won nine league titles in a row, so we must necessarily put them in front of everyone,” Compagnoni explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia yesterday afternoon.
“Inter tried to contend with them until the very end and have further strengthened their team. Napoli have made two investments in Bakayoko and Osimhen, who were the missing players.”
He then went on to admit that Atalanta will be his number one favourite to win the Scudetto this term if they manage to continue at the pace they have started the season at.
“Atalanta carry an unknown factor. Will they be able to keep this pace until the end? If they could do it, they would become the number one favourite.”
As things currently stand, Atalanta are leading the way in Serie A with them having picked up nine points from the nine available to them after three games played. Inter are in fourth place in the Serie A standings with seven points to their name whilst Napoli are fifth with six points and Juventus in eighth with four points.
Napoli and Juventus have however played a game less than both Atalanta and Inter due to their match against one another being postponed.
